Belize

This years Anglers World Holidays group trip to Belize was based at Roberts Grove, Placencia. The perfect location to run offshore to fish the plethora of flats and small cayes in Southern Belize, Roberts Grove proved to be an excellent choice providing wonderful accommodation, great food and outstanding service. Certainly Roberts Grove will be our choice for accommodation for all future trips to Belize.

We had six full days fishing and myself and boat partner Andrew Leaves caught tarpon on every single day. The average size of the tarpon we caught was between 25-50lb, with Andrew catching the largest of the trip, a superb 80lb fish.

Bonefish are prolific throughout Belize and we caught plenty, even though we spent very little time fishing for them.

Variety was provided by catching some great jacks of various species, along with snapper, but with the tarpon fishing so good, naturally that was the major focus of our attention on every day. Derek ‘Del’ Elliott caught a specimen 16lb snook on fly and a stunning 21lb African Pompano on bait, and along with boat partner Ray Jennings also got plenty of tarpon and other species.Belize-action-DLBelize-bonefish-DLBelize-fly-fishingBelize-fly-Tarpon-DLRobertsgrove-Belize-DL

Fraser River

Just returned from a great weeks fishing on the Fraser River in British Columbia Western Canada.

Late spring/early summer offers great action for a high average size of sturgeon in the 100 to 300 pound range. The river was dropping from high levels, water temperatures were lower than summer and the sturgeon were feeding tentatively.

Martin and Peter landed Great White Sturgeon in the 5, 6, 7 and to almost 8 feet class with fish ranging from 80 to almost 300 pounds.

Marc Laynes runs top guiding service Cascade Fishing Adventures, has the latest tackle and state of the art jet boats. All so essential on the scenic and powerful Fraser River.

The scenery is stunning, virtually no other boat traffic and great wildlife viewing. We were lucky to see two black bears swimming the river.

This has to be our best big fish river product on the planet and Marc provides a private transfer from and to Vancouver airport.

FLY FISHING AT MOUNT FALCON ESTATE

John Horsey recently returned from escorting his Team Lexus competition winners on a great trout and salmon trip to scenic County Mayo. Despite extremely changeable weather in early May they enjoyed good sport for wild brown trout on Conn and Mask, fresh run spring salmon on Lough Conn and the River Moy plus some interesting overwintered fit rainbows on buzzers and dries on the estate lake.
Mount Falcon Estate is a luxury, relaxing holiday location perfect for the serious fly fisher and non fishing partners. Well organised trout and salmon fishing by experienced fisheries manager and keen angler Stuart Price who has access to top local guides.
Prize winners Russell Owen and Phil Cotton fished hard, put in the hours despite some tough weather and caught on all waters.  http://anglersworld.tv/game-fishing/ireland/co-mayo/
